McCrae Takes The Net

On March 22, 2010, in Lacrosse, McCrae, by Chris

McCrae has decided to try out a new position on the turf.  For some unknown reason he has decided to let people fire the ball at him.  This weekend at the Lexington Face Off McCrae played goalie on Sunday and on Saturday he played his typical position as a shooter.  On the field he racked up 12 goals and 7 assists and in net over two games he had 21 saves with one goal against and a shut out. You can see his goalie pictures here http://chriswilliams.smugmug.com/keyword/mccrae%20goalie#P-1-25.

McCrae just heard back from the National Wildlife Federation that he has been selected as the winner of the under 13 photo contest.  His pictures will be featured in Range Rick in August.  WOW so cool.

McCrae took the winning pictures while on safari in South Africa last year with the family and his grandparents Roberta and Bruce Williams.  If you want to see all his shots go here and the pictures tagged with McCrae are his.  He is all excited now to turn 13 because then the contest winners get cold hard cash. Below are his two winning pictures, the letter from the editor and a shot I took of him in action. Well maybe he was not totally in action since we were stopped for a cookie and Billtong (basically any old meat dried in the sun) break.  McCrae could not get enough of the Billtong but Grammy stuck with cookies.

No Rest For The Wicked

On March 10, 2010, in Lacrosse, by Chris

MC March MadnessHockey is over and before you know it, or I guess I should say before I knew it, we were standing on a lacrosse field. I’ve been traveling with Chase to meet college lacrosse coaches and both Chase and McCrae have started lacrosse practice. The Weston Varsity has started captain practice and have started running. I hear there is a mess in aisle 4 that needs to be cleaned up. Weston Youth Lacrosse has also started practicing in the gym. McCrae’s NESLL team played last weekend in their first tournament at the Harvard bubble which for NESLL is the event that kicks off the year. I guess the week before the bubble had popped and had to be evacuated… that must have been an interesting situation. The u13 NESLL black and NESLL blue teams have a number of Weston kids playing (McCrae, Tommy R, Matt P and Frank B).

I shot pictures of McCrae’s team (Matt, Frank and McCrae) but there are a few pictures of Tommy as well since we played his team twice. You can see them here http://chriswilliams.smugmug.com/McCrae-Lacrosse/NESLL/NESLL-March-Madness-2010/11441829_KJbKy#804483670_cdwgr.

Last fall I started shooting some video and plan to do more of this for the lacrosse season. But this is a little tentative as the editing time is tough and my video editing solution from ADOBE is VERY VERY unreliable… You can find the video on my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/chrisdiannefamily.

Snow People For Christmas

On December 30, 2009, in Uncategorized, by Chris

McCrae Christmas 2009 Snow People - 8McCrae built some great snow people just before Christmas.  He also built a snow dog in hopes there was a puppy under the Christmas tree.  There has been a lot of dog sketching in the house these days…

Mc Dog 2

Well as luck would have it Santa did end up leaving a dog under the tree.  Well that is a virtual dog as ours has yet to be born.  The new addition to the family is coming from Australia in the next 3-6 months or so.  We will be getting an Australian Labradoodle from Rutland Manor, the founder of the breed.  We do not yet have a name but there is a list brewing and as you would expect there are many hockey based names on the list. If you have some ideas for names feel free to tell us. Just enter the name below.

A Snowy Day of Lacrosse

On December 21, 2009, in Lacrosse, by Chris

mc_jingleMcCrae played in the NESLL Jingle Bells tournament yesterday.  We left the house first thing in the morning after Dad shoveled the drive.  With 10″ of snow on the ground it seemed a strange day to be playing lacrosse, but game on.  The tournament was out in Marlboro at this new indoor sports complex ForeKicks (http://www.forekicks.com/) that was just amazing.  I would say about half of the people who signed up showed up.  The drive was slow as the roads were still a mess.  Games were great even though McCrae’s team did not fair so well.  You can find the pictures at http://chriswilliams.smugmug.com/McCrae-Lacrosse/NESLL/Jingle-Bell-Tournament/10714729_44gkf#746315864_A5WUL.
