McCrae built some great snow people just before Christmas. He also built a snow dog in hopes there was a puppy under the Christmas tree. There has been a lot of dog sketching in the house these days…

Well as luck would have it Santa did end up leaving a dog under the tree. Well that is a virtual dog as ours has yet to be born. The new addition to the family is coming from Australia in the next 3-6 months or so. We will be getting an Australian Labradoodle from Rutland Manor, the founder of the breed. We do not yet have a name but there is a list brewing and as you would expect there are many hockey based names on the list. If you have some ideas for names feel free to tell us. Just enter the name below.
McCrae played in the NESLL Jingle Bells tournament yesterday. We left the house first thing in the morning after Dad shoveled the drive. With 10″ of snow on the ground it seemed a strange day to be playing lacrosse, but game on. The tournament was out in Marlboro at this new indoor sports complex ForeKicks (http://www.forekicks.com/) that was just amazing. I would say about half of the people who signed up showed up. The drive was slow as the roads were still a mess. Games were great even though McCrae’s team did not fair so well. Weston played their first game against Newton South. Weston came out with a bang and a two point early lead. Joe put the first two in the back of the net and the goalie did not know they were there until the whistle blew. Both his goalshis goals were from the same spot on the ice and from the same position he scores from in Lacrosse. Weston got comfortable and Newton South closed the gap to one and then none. Weston stepped back up and took the lead with a third goal from Chase, great pass from Joe. With significant time on the clock Newton South looked to tie and ultimately did. Weston dug deep and had a number of opportunities to take the lead but could not find the net.

Well the hockey team is off and running. We played two tough scrimages, one with Waltham and another with Boston Latin. As expected Waltham rang up the points. Weston looked really good in the third of the Boston Latin game, as they slowed the game down and started making passes. Boston Latin put a few on the board and Weston closed the gap with Chase and Joe both put one in the back of the net, but at the buzzer the bad guys out numbered Weston.
Chase and I had a great time at Colgate. The ride out was fantastic, really nice day. The ride back is another story, clearly winter is here. The Lacrosse was great and Chase played in 6 games. The campus is so amazing. Below are some pictures of a wonderful old barn just off the campus as well as some shots from the games. Check out our youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/chrisdiannefamily for some game video Chase playing close defense and some zone.
